November Member Luncheon

Lesley Sager visits from Madison, Wisconsin to share the story of Merry-Go-Strong (MGS), a non-profit organization she pioneered that works in partnership with women and communities in Kenya to expand their craft, minds, and resources. Hear how “the basket ladies” who participate in adult literacy programs have become artisans. MGS provides them with yarn and needles and encourages creative freedom.  By selling the baskets they make online and at pop-up shops, they earn income for their families and communities. Sager will bring some examples of their creations and discuss how she and MGS have made an impact on the lives of women and girls in remote villages in Africa.
