Chamber Music Charleston Classical Kids and Outreach Concerts

Chamber Music Charleston (CMC) is dedicated to introducing young audiences to classical music through chamber music concerts and educational performances of high artistic quality by musicians of the Lowcountry. These concerts, presented to students during school hours, include interactive, informative insights brought to life through the introduction of musicians and their instruments, sing-alongs and audience participation.

Two chamber music concerts will be presented at each of the three elementary schools on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands. The “Classical Kids Concert” introduces K through 3rd grade students to instruments while the “Outreach Concert” for 4th and 5th grade students focuses on historical elements of classical music. Both programs will share Margarita Engle’s story Dancing Hands: How Teresa Carreno Played the Piano for President Lincoln, which has been adapted to music.
