Summer STEAM Camp

Engaging Creative Minds

Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) provides creative learning opportunities that encourage imagination and innovation to help students achieve academically, stay engaged in school and succeed in life.

Arts, etc. provides scholarships to third-graders from Johns Island to participate in a 6-week summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) camp. This nationally recognized program was created to address summer learning loss and provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful experiences that keep them on track for the next school year. The Summer STEAM Institute is designed to reinforce the STEM concepts taught during the school year. By adding the “A” for the arts, STEM becomes STEAM and creates more opportunities for students to be exposed to local arts organizations and arts experiences. Students participate in weekly  themes such as Robotics, Forensics and Chemistry and have opportunities to engage in Dance, Theatre, Music, Visual Arts, and Athletics.

ECM won the 2016 New York Life Excellence in Summer Learning Award from the National Summer Learning Association and has presented its camp model to more than 60 program providers from all over the country.
