Welcome to Arts, etc.
Arts etc. is an organization of Kiawah and Cassique women
committed to supporting the arts. It was founded in 2001 as
Gibbes, etc., an auxiliary group of the Gibbes Museum of Art,
by four Kiawah women: Ellen Walkley, Ruth Baker, Ann Trees
and Cathy Marino.
As Gibbes, etc. our organization raised more than $1,200,000
for the Museum in Gibbes memberships and through proceeds
from the acclaimed Kiawah Art and House Tour. Our donations
supported a wide variety of Museum exhibits as well as Art
to Go, a Gibbes program that provides teaching artists who
work with students and their art teachers to create hands-on
projects that enhance the art curriculum.
During the summer of 2014 we became an independent 501(c)(3)
organization renamed Arts, etc. Our purpose is to raise
funds through events and donations to support the arts in
the greater Charleston community.
In 2015, as a result of funds raised from our annual Art &
House Tour, we donated $25,000 to the Gibbes Museum’s Art to
Go Program and $42,500 to Engaging Creative Minds (ECM).
From the proceeds of our April 2016 Art & House Tour,
$80,000 was donated to Chamber Music Charleston and Engaging
Creative Minds. The latter included funds directed to The
Gibbes Museum’s Eye Opener program and the College of
Charleston’s Children’s Opera.
Our April 2017 Art & House Tour was our most successful to
date. $90,750 will be directed to organizations who will
bring the arts to students on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands.
These organizations include Chamber Music Charleston,
Engaging Creative Minds, the Gibbes Museum and the College
of Charleston’s Children’s Opera and Camp Inspire. For more
information on the specific high impact programs we will
support please see
