RECIPIENTS OF THE APRIL 2015 ART & HOUSE TOUR FUNDS:
THE DIFFERENCE ARTS, ETC. MEMBERS MAKE
The Kiawah Art & House Tour is Arts, etc.’s major fundraiser. This year the proceeds from the house tour will help foster art appreciation for many young people in our local community. Research has shown that art drives student creativity, analytical thinking and academic performance. Arts, etc. is committed to making that difference.
We are proud to announce that we selected two organizations as recipients of proceeds from the 2015 Art & House Tour – Art To Go and Engaging Creative Minds.
In partnership with both the Art To Go program and Engaging Creative Minds, we are proud to be part of the Charleston community that is dedicated to making a difference in children’s lives through better analytical and creative thinking.
ART TO GO
Art To Go is a program sponsored by the Gibbes Museum of Art in collaboration with Charleston County Title I schools. In this program Gibbes teaching artists work with students and their art teachers to create hands-on projects that enhance the art curriculum. For the 2015-2016 school year, the program will be expanded to include student visits to galleries and other cultural events. Arts, etc. is supporting this program with a $25,000 donation.

ENGAGING CREATIVE MINDS
Engaging Creative Minds (ECM) currently serves over 5,000 students in grades 3-8 in sixteen Charleston County Schools. Through its arts-integration programs, ECM is able to train and employ over 50 artists, both performing and visual, to go into the schools to teach their art and the curriculum standards alongside the teachers. In the summer of 2014 ECM launched its first Summer STEAM Institute, a hands-on innovative camp that served over 300 students.
