Children's art from "Art To Go" ~ an outreach program funded by Arts, etc.

Welcome to Arts, etc.

HISTORY
Arts etc. is an organization of Kiawah and Cassique women committed to supporting the arts. It was founded in 2001 as Gibbes, etc., an auxiliary group of the Gibbes Museum of Art, by four Kiawah women: Ellen Walkley, Ruth Baker, Ann Trees and Cathy Marino.

As Gibbes, etc. our organization raised more than $1,200,000 for the Museum in Gibbes memberships and through proceeds from the acclaimed Kiawah Art and House Tour. Our donations supported a wide variety of Museum exhibits as well as Art to Go, a Gibbes program that provides teaching artists who work with students and their art teachers to create hands-on projects that enhance the art curriculum.

During the summer of 2014 we became an independent 501(c)(3) organization renamed Arts, etc. Our purpose is to raise funds through events and donations to support the arts in the greater Charleston community.

In 2015, as a result of funds raised from our annual Art and House Tour, we donated $25,000 to the Gibbes Museum’s Art to Go Program and $42,500 to Engaging Creative Minds (ECM).

PRESENT From the proceeds of our successful April 2016 Art & House Tour, $80,000 is being donated to Chamber Music Charleston and Engaging Creative Minds. The latter includes funds directed to The Gibbes Museum’s Eye Opener program and the College of Charleston’s Children’s Opera. Please see the Recipients of 2016 House Tour Funds section of this website for detailed information.

Through our recent philanthropic focus of bringing visual, performing and literary arts to the children of our local community, we are making an impact that will make a difference in children’s lives!

Our members’ generous support of the Art and House tour --ticket purchases, sponsorships and auction bidding -- contribute to making this difference. Our business sponsors support our focus and make that known through their generous donations.

Throughout the year, Arts, etc. features speakers and gallery tours that expand members’ perspectives and insights into art. Through events, educational lectures and Art & Wine afternoons, the women of Arts, etc. seek to educate ourselves and to solidify our strong sense of community.
